How do I configure my ESET security product to block most websites and allow only a few? (4.0)

To block the majority of websites and only allow access to  the ones you specify, use the following step-by-step instructions for your ESET security product:

  1. Open the main program window by clicking the ESET icon  next to the system clock or by clicking Start →All Programs → ESET → ESET Smart Security or ESET NOD32 Antivirus.
  2. Press the F5 key to open the Advanced Setup window.
  3. From the Advanced Setup tree on the left, click Web access protectionHTTP, HTTPS Address management.
  4. To block all websites except the ones you specify, select the Allow access only to HTTP addresses in the list of allowed addresses option.
  5. To set the list of allowed addresses, select List of allowed addresses from the drop-down menu.

  6. Click Add to individually add the addresses you want to allow users to access. For each website, be sure to either include "www." or a wildcard "*" symbol, as in "www.eset.com" or "*eset.com". Click OK to close the window and then click OK again to exit the Advanced Setup window.
