AV-Comparatives, an independent testing organization, published its in-depth Parental Control Reviews this week, in which it assesses the main features and the ability of solutions to keep unwanted content from kids’ eyes on their Windows computers.

In 5 separate single-product reports, ESET Smart Security was given the Approved Parental Control Product award for its list of functionalities. The reviews cover the main features included in each product such as content filtering, time limit controls, application controls and usability.

AV-Comparatives also tested the web-filtering component using automated system to see how effectively the product blocks websites in different categories such as pornography, drugs and gambling.

“Although ESET Smart Security’s Parental Control feature is limited in features, it works very well. We found it to be straightforward to configure, with excellent help facilities. The List of categories is extensive but not excessive, whilst the pre-defined age groups are helpful in making a selection for a child of a particular age. In the web-filtering test, it was very effective at blocking unwanted sites, too,” said Andreas Clementi, CEO of AV-Comparatives.

The Parental Control feature is present in all versions of the higher-tier of ESET’s consumer products, from ESET Smart Security 5 onwards. ESET’s consumer segment products are Windows 10-compatible from version 7 onwards.
